How to convert currency

To convert currency, multiply the amount by the exchange rate between the two currencies. If 1 GBP equals 1.16 EUR, then £100 is approximately €116.

converted amount = original amount × exchange rate

Exchange rates move over time, so the result should be treated as a guide rather than a guaranteed rate.

Why your bank rate may be different

Banks, card providers and travel money services may use their own exchange rates, fees or spreads. That means the amount you actually receive or pay may be different from a simple reference-rate conversion. The rates here come from the European Central Bank's daily reference set, which is a published benchmark rather than a price anyone is offering you.
